Diagnosing Your Condition

As an initial step, we will conduct clinical observations and review your symptoms with you. By checking for signs of lens cloudiness during your eye exam, we can determine the severity of your condition and ensure that your symptoms are being caused by cataracts and not Eye Condition Treatment. Based on the data we collect, we will determine whether you are a good candidate for cataract surgery. In general, we recommend surgery for patients who have significant vision loss due to cataracts. During your consultation, we will discuss all applicable treatment methods to provide you with the most comprehensive treatment options.

Your Cataract Surgery

If it is decided that you should undergo cataract surgery, we will perform traditional cataract surgery. Our Eye Doctor will begin the procedure by creating a small incision in your cornea with a handheld blade, and will access the lens using a special instrument. He will then apply ultrasound to break up the cataract, removing the cloudy center.

We are committed to caring for patients and keeping them informed throughout the process.

We complete most surgeries with multifocal implants, which replace the natural lens and provide vision correction for nearsighted and farsighted cases. In most cases, patients are able to heal on their own and do not require stitches. The entire procedure can be completed in approximately 30 minutes, during which the eye will be numbed with anesthetic eye drops to reduce discomfort.

Our practice is committed to caring for patients and keeping them informed throughout the process. We will usually see you the day after surgery and three weeks later to monitor your progress. Most patients are able to see clearly within one or two weeks of their surgery. However, you can expect to reach full recovery approximately three months after your procedure.

Benefits of Cataract Surgery

Cataract surgery is the only permanent solution for treating cateracts. Cataracts cannot develop again once they have been removed, and most patients are able to enjoy long-lasting results after their surgery. Patients who wore eyeglasses prior to surgery can also enjoy clearer, improved vision following the insertion of multifocal implants. In addition to freedom from cataract symptoms, patients who undergo cataract surgery can enjoy reduced reliance on eyeglasses.
